Bold statement: Fiji will bring a festival-like, home-ground feel to Murrayfield, even though the match is officially Fiji’s home fixture in the new Nations Championship. And this is the part most people miss: the game is set to be a landmark event for both nations, blending competitive rugby with cultural celebration.
Scotland fans are about to get a special summer treat. Scotland Men will play Fiji Water Flying Fijians at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday 18 July, as part of the Southern Hemisphere slate in the inaugural Nations Championship.
Although Fiji will host the fixture on their calendar, the match will be staged in Scotland as part of a wider series that also includes fixtures against England and Wales in Liverpool and Cardiff, respectively.
In July 2026, the Nations Championship kicks off with its first round of matches. Scotland will travel to Argentina and South Africa before returning to Edinburgh to face Fiji.
Scottish Rugby will oversee match-day operations, marketing, and ticketing for the Fiji game, coordinating closely with Fiji Rugby to ensure a seamless event for both unions.
The last time Scotland faced Fiji was in Suva last summer. The most recent Murrayfield sell-out occurred in November 2024, when Scotland emerged victorious.
Scotland has a long history of rugby in the Pacific, including a 2017 tour to Fiji under Head Coach Gregor Townsend.
